My name is Monte' Streeter-EL, and I am the Founder of 1 Of A Kind. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and like many in our community, I grew up surrounded by influences that shaped my choices. At one time, I allowed the streets to become my direction, and those choices led to a number of years of incarceration.
While incarcerated, I made a decision that would change the path of my life: I chose growth. I earned my G.E.D. and began focusing on self-improvement, even while confined. I knew I could not change the past, but I also knew I could shape what came next.
When I was released, I returned home carrying a deep awareness of the damage I had caused — and a stronger desire to make things right. Through my faith in Moorish Science, my spirit was ignited again. I began to view life differently, and I committed myself to one mission: to let my good deeds outweigh my bad deeds.
Coming home also meant stepping into responsibility in a new way. I became a full-time parent to five children, raising them alone, and I knew I had to sharpen myself as a man, a provider, and a leader. I enrolled in college, took parenting classes to strengthen my skills, and obtained multiple certifications to increase my ability to serve others with excellence. I committed myself to the social service field and worked through several nonprofit organizations across St. Louis City, learning what it truly takes to help people transition from survival to stability.
Over time, I began to see something clearly: many people aren’t failing because they don’t care — they struggle because they don’t have access. Access to knowledge. Access to resources. Access to guidance. Access to a support system. I realized that if people had the same access to resources and support that I had while rebuilding my own life, they could transform too.
That realization is what gave birth to 1 Of A Kind Solutions & Services.
This organization was created through lived experience — from poor choices, real consequences, and the determination to become better. I know what it feels like to be trapped in a mindset, trapped in circumstances, and trapped in a cycle influenced by the streets. And because I lived it, I also know what it takes to get out.
1 Of A Kind Solutions is a safe space for the community, similar to a firehouse —
a place people can run to when life is burning around them. A place for those trying to escape the reality of the streets and needing help finding resources, structure, and stability. We are committed to harm reduction, reentry services, crisis response, housing stability, and empowering individuals and families through direct support and community partnerships.
We empathize with all who struggle in life in any capacity. We do not judge people — we guide them. We don’t label people — we build them. And we don’t just speak about change — we help create it!
This is my mission. This is my purpose. And this is why 1 Of A Kind Solutions & Services exists: to restore hope, reduce harm, and build stronger outcomes for the people and communities we serve.
